What is Vokna?
Vokna is a script-first studio for AI voice production. Write multi-speaker dialogue in one editor, cast voices, direct each line, and export finished audio — without booking booths or juggling separate tools. Choose from 50+ voices across 10 major languages.
Is there a free plan?
Yes. Free includes 10,000 characters per month and 3 projects for personal use, plus our standard voice library across 10 major languages. Premium emotive voices and Persona Studio unlock on Starter and Professional.
How does multi-speaker dialogue work?
Type @ in the editor to assign a speaker to any line. Each segment can use a different voice, and Vokna stitches the takes into one seamless track — perfect for podcasts, scenes, interviews, and character dialogue.

How do I direct a voice with plain English?
On Starter and Professional, use the instruction field on a line — prompts like "speak faster," "softer," or "more urgency" shape the performance without sliders or studio jargon. It works with our premium emotive voices.
What is Persona Studio?
Persona Studio lets you invent new voices from a written brief — age, accent, texture, attitude. Save the persona and reuse it on any line in your project. Available on paid plans.
How does voice cloning work?
Professional subscribers can clone a speaker from a short audio sample (about 5–30 seconds). New lines keep their tone and identity. Cloned voices are private to your account.
Which audio formats can I export?
Free exports MP3. Starter and Professional add broadcast-quality WAV (44.1 kHz, 16-bit) for post-production, plus access to the premium emotive voice library.
03Plans & Usage
Characters, commercial rights, and what happens when you hit your limit.
How does monthly usage work?
Usage is counted in characters — every letter, space, and punctuation mark in text you convert to speech. Your allowance resets each billing cycle. Starter and Professional can keep going with overage billing ($0.99 and $0.79 per extra 10k characters).
What happens if I exceed my monthly characters?
On paid plans, overage billing lets you keep generating. Starter is $0.99 per additional 10k characters; Professional is $0.79. On Free, wait for the next cycle or upgrade.
Is generation faster on higher plans?
All tiers get fast generation. Professional puts your jobs at the front of the queue when volume is high — best for creators shipping on tight deadlines.
Can I use Vokna audio commercially?
Paid plans (Starter and Professional) include commercial rights — YouTube, podcasts, client work, courses, and more. Free is for personal, non-commercial projects (up to 3 active projects).
Do retries cost extra credits?
No. You are charged once when generation starts. If it fails, retrying that segment is free — you won't be double-charged.
Do unused characters roll over?
No. Monthly characters reset at the start of each billing cycle.
04Billing & Your Account
Upgrades, downgrades, cancellations, and what stays in your library.
How are characters counted?
Each character in text you convert counts toward your plan — including spaces and punctuation. A ~100-word paragraph uses roughly 500 characters.
How do I downgrade to Free?
Open Pricing and choose Downgrade to Free on the Free plan card. That schedules your paid plan to end when your current billing period ends. You can also cancel from the customer portal under Manage subscription.
Does downgrading cut off access immediately?
No. You keep your paid plan and credits until the end of the period you already paid for. After that date your account moves to Free automatically.
Can I change my mind after scheduling a downgrade?
Yes. Until your billing period ends, you're still on your paid plan. Click Keep my subscription on Pricing to undo the downgrade, or use the billing portal to upgrade (for example Starter to Professional).
Can I cancel anytime?
Yes — from Pricing or your billing portal. Your plan stays active through the end of the current billing period. No refunds for partial months; no further charges after that period ends.
What happens to my projects if I downgrade?
Nothing is deleted. Projects, speakers, and generated audio stay in your account. If you downgrade from Professional, you can still play cloned-voice audio — you just can't regenerate with those voices until you upgrade again.
